The favourite part of a ski holiday for me is returning to a cosy chalet after a long day on the Mountains and hunkering down.
Obviously a real fire is the focal point in most ski chalets and not something every house in Britain has access to , but most other Alpine methods can easily be deployed!
The most important accessory has to be a pile of throws in different textures and fabrics which you and your guests can wrap yourselves in , perfect for layering at any time of the year.
Following a visit to a chalet many years ago where all the sofas were covered in sheepskins rather than used as rugs on the floor we have become converts to using sheepskins as seat pads and covers on the sofas .
The amount of heat a sheepskin gives off in the Winter is incredible and we recommend everyone should have one! (Going off track slightly , we often get asked how to keep sheepskins looking good , the trick is to brush them regularly with a wire dog brush)
The Alpine home is always full of cushions in varying sizes and materials , not only does this look attractive and inviting but also provides extra warmth.
Cushions only need a quick plump every day and in a cold climate this is very little to ask for the warmth and comfort they supply
Cushions, throws and sheepskins are a very quick and easy way to winter proof your house and can easily be changed in the summer to offer a different feel and look.
As can be imagined Cushions and throws play an important part of our offering at Alpine Lifestyle and we are always looking for new and exiting designs to offer our customers.
If you are not fully ready to Winter proof your home then may be a quick "Hot Toddy" is called for and this is a recipe for one of my favourites
